Each year the hottest celebrities get decked out in some absolutely gorgeous gowns for the annual Met Gala. Every year provides a new theme for the fundraising event benefiting the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute. And every year the red carpet is met with some truly stunning attire. That’s why we’ve put together a list of some of the best, most amazing Met Gala outfits of all time. One thing we’ve noticed, some women have repeatedly made an impression.
It’s no surprise Karen Elson wound up on countless “best dressed” lists after the 2014 gala. She looked absolutely stunning in her Zac Posen ball gown. The theme of the year “Charles James: Beyond Fashion” inspired a pretty strict dress code issued by Anna Wintour. According to WWD, it was “white tie and decorations.” Considering the number of beautiful, structured ball gowns, we’d say a lot of celebrities followed suit. Elson’s just happened to be one of the most stand-out gowns of the year.
Marion Cotillard was absolutely dazzling at the event in 2010. The theme of the year was “Diaghilev: Costumes and Designs of the Ballets Russes, 1978.” The show featured a collection of beautiful Russian ballet costumes. As one can imagine, many of the red carpet looks featured delicate details and pale colors.
