Every year a host of celebrities get all dressed up for the Met Gala. The annual fundraising event benefits the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute, and every year there’s a different theme. Some A-listers bring their on-theme A-game, but not always. While there have been some incredible costumes and gowns over the years, there have also been plenty of fashion fails. These dresses and outfits are some of the all-time worst.
The theme of 2013’s Gala was “Punk: Chaos to Couture.” While her dress is not exactly very punk, she at least got the chaotic part right. The gown, designed by Riccardo Tisci for Givenchy, had to be altered multiple times to fit. According to one source, it originally wasn’t originally intended to have sleeves either.
In 2017, the theme was “Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons” and Katy Perry was even a cochair of the event. Of course, that led everyone to have high expectations for the pop star. While she certainly tried to be on-theme, it didn’t keep her off of the “worst dressed” lists that year. We’re not sure what’s actually going on with this crazy-busy number. Though her “witness” headdress, apparently promoting her 2017 album, seems a bit tacky if you ask us.
