Disney’s earlier offer to buy 21st Century Fox for $52.4 billion stumbled after Comcast entered the fray, offering $65 billion. Not to be deterred, Disney upped their ante and Fox has accepted their final offer: $71.3 billion dollars.
According to Bloomberg, Disney is acquiring 20th Century Fox’s film and TV studio, Fox’s American cable channels and Sky News in the UK.
The Justice Department will need to authorize the deal, but Fox and Disney are probably feeling good after the recently approved AT&T-Time Warner merger.
Looks like Marvel Studios will be able to build an Avengers-level franchise around the beloved X-Men comics after all.
