And by whimper, we mean the sound that the servers presumably made when Amazon kicked off the event.
At roughly 3pm eastern time, Amazon flicked on the lights for Prime Day 2018, a sales event billed as Summer’s Black Friday. The problem was, it was almost completely broken for the first hour of the 36 hour sale.
Reaction on social media was swift, with lots of people making fun of the retail giant on Twitter. Alongside the #PrimeDay hashtag was #PrimeDayFail. Amazon has had trouble in the past with Prime Day and they are clearly still trying to figure out how to pull off the massive sale without technical issues.
