Stop Being Stupid on Twitter Already

Will people ever learn not to say stupid things on Twitter?

A few days after James Gunn was canned by Disney for making tasteless and offensive jokes on Twitter 10 years ago, fans have dug up controversial tweets made by Atlanta Braves pitcher Sean Newcomb.

We won’t reprint the tweets here because they are NSFW, but they centered around racial and homophobic topics. Newcomb, 25-years-old, made the statements when he was an 18-year-old high schools student. One of the racial tweets were a song lyric.

Newcomb apologized for the tweets and the Braves issues a press release saying that they have spoken to Newcomb about them. A similar situation happened with Milwaukee Brewers relief pitcher Josh Hader when old tweets were resurfaced. He was not suspended, but was required to attend sensitivity training.
