If only we could have been a fly on the wall during this conversation…

A.G. Sulzberger, the new publisher of the New York Times, met with President Donald Trump to discuss the state of the ̶f̶a̶k̶e̶ news media. The meeting would have been off-the-record, but Trump tweeted about it on Sunday, prompting Sulzberger to respond.

According to Sulzberger, he raised concerns about Trump’s “deeply troubling anti-press rhetoric,” and explained that the use of phrases such as “enemy of the people” actually puts journalists in danger. Foreign countries are even using Trump’s hyperbole to arrest journalists.

Trump responded to Sulzeberger’s response with another Twitter rant, questioning the patriotism of negative coverage of his administration.
