Trump’s Military Parade May Cost Three Times What Was Previously Announced

Last February, White House budget director Mick Mulvaney told congress that the cost of Trump’s military parade could be between $10 and $30 million.

Serious planning for the parade began in June according to NBC News, and now, according to CNBC, the uppermost estimate for the parade has jumped from $30 million to $92 million. The figure includes security, transportation and other expenses.

There has been plenty of criticism around Trump’s desire to have a military parade, with one official saying: “There’s only one person who wants this parade,” referring to Trump. Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill) called it a “fantastic waste of money to amuse the president.” Others have likened it to North Korean-like posturing.
