Florence is a Bit Weaker, but Don’t Let That Fool You

As the massive storm approaches the North Carolina coast, it has fallen in strength to a Category 2 hurricane.

However, Florence is still expected to deliver life-threatening storm surges along with potentially devastating floods and damaging winds beginning today. Forecasters also expect the storm to slow over land and potentially stall for days.

Even though Florence no longer falls into the category of “major hurricane,” it will affect people living inland from Georgia to Virginia. There are three other named storms in the Atlantic, currently: Isaac, Helene and Joyce. None of them are expected to hit the US.
