Former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort may be close to a plea deal with special counsel Robert Mueller ahead of his second trial relating to Manafort’s Ukranian lobbying organization.
Proceedings are set to begin on Monday and would be the second grueling trial for Manafort, who was already found guilty on bank fraud charges and for tax crimes. He faces seven new counts of foreign lobbying violations, money laundering conspiracy and witness tampering.
Manafort has not yet entered a new plea and prosecutors have not spoken about the terms of any potential deals. If the two parties do reach a deal, then it will likely be announced at a court hearing on Friday.
