Japanese Billionaire to Become First Moon Tourist

Yusaku Maezawa, a Japanese billionaire, has signed up with SpaceX (with a massive undisclosed deposit) to become the first private tourist to fly around the moon.

Maezawa will fly on SpaceX’s Big Falcon Rocket (BFR) and wants to bring six to eight artists from around the world with him to experience the trip. The launch will take place in 2023.

“Ever since I was a kid, I have loved the moon. It’s always there and continues to inspire humanity,” said Maezawa. “In 2023, as the host, I would like to invite 6 to 8 artists from around the world to join me on this mission to the Moon.”
