Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh and California profession Christine Blasey Ford are set to appear before a Senate committee next Monday to discuss the allegation that Ford has made against Kavanaugh, saying that he sexually assaulted her in the 1980s.

“To provide ample transparency, we will hold a public hearing Monday to give these recent allegations a full airing,” said Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley, the Republican Senator of Iowa.

Republicans are on thin ice when it comes to how they handle these accusations during the era of #MeToo. The appearance of a woman being grilled by 11 elderly men on allegations of sexual assault could rub many voters the wrong way.
