Russian Military Plane Shot Down Over Syria

Syrian anti-aircraft artillery accidentally shot down a Russian military plane after an Israeli attack, killing 15 people on board.

Moscow blames Israel for putting the aircraft in the line of fire. It was reported that positions in Syria were attempting to stop a barrage of Israeli missiles when the plane was struck.

Israel only gave a one minute warning before the strike and Russian officials say that Israeli controllers should have seen the Russian plane, which was coming in for a landing. The anti-aircraft system that was used to shoot down the Russian plane was sold to Syria several years ago by Moscow.
