President Donald Trump’s reelection campaign has far outpaced the Democratic candidates in the first quarter of 2019, as his campaign has taken in $30.3 million, topping that of Bernie Sanders and Kamala Harris combined.
And it’s not the wealthy who are backing Trump, but the average American. The average Trump donation is only $34.26 and 99% of Trump donations were $200 or less, according to the Trump campaign.
Sanders raised $18.2 million and Harris raised $12 million, for a combined total of $30.2 million. Beto O’Rourke has raised $9.4 million. The combined totals of the eight leading Democratic campaigns are anticipated to have raised a combined $65.8 million.
But Trump also has $40.8 million in the bank and the Republican National Committee (RNC) has also raised $46 million for his reelection effort.
The Bottom Line: A big reason why Trump has been able to accumulate such a large war chest is thanks to the fact that he started launching his re-election campaign just hours after his inauguration.
