Donald Trump and his children certainly aren’t happy about having Democrat-controlled house committees.
He and three of his children, along with seven of his companies, have now sued Capital One and Deutsche Bank, in an attempt to stop them from complying with subpoenas that request the release of certain financial records.
‘Subpoenas Issued to Harass Donald Trump’
In the lawsuit that was filed late on Monday, it states, “The subpoenas were issued to harass President Donald J Trump, to rummage through every aspect of his personal finances, his businesses, and the private information of the president and his family.”
It also has mention of how the Democrats are hoping to “stumble upon something they can expose publicly and use as a political tool against the President.”
Joint Statement from Democratic Representatives
In a joint statement from Democratic Representatives Maxine Waters and Adam Schiff, they state that the lawsuit is meritless, and added:
“The potential use of the US financial system for illicit purposes is a very serious concern. The financial services committee is exploring these matters, including as they may involve the president and his associates, as thoroughly as possible,” said Waters.
