President Trump made a spirited attack against Robert Mueller on Thursday, calling the former special counsel a “true never-Trumper”.
‘Dirty, Filthy, Disgusting’
The comment came a day after Mueller said that if his investigative team “had confidence that [Trump] clearly did not commit a crime, we would have said so.” Reading between the lines, many think the former special counsel was saying there is enough evidence in his report to impeach the President.
Mueller himself stated yesterday that, “If we had had confidence that the President clearly did not commit a crime, we would have said so.”
Trump continued on Thursday, saying of the investigation, “It was high crimes and misdemeanors. There was no high crime or there was no misdemeanor? How do you impeach based on that?” He went on to then call ‘impeachment’ a “dirty, filthy, and disgusting word”.
Trump Admits Guilt?
Earlier in the day, Trump tweeted something many are reading into as an inadvertent admission of guilt.
“I had nothing to do with Russia helping me to get elected,” said the President early Thursday morning.
Speaking to reporters shortly after, the POTUS was more choice in his words. “Russia did not help me get elected,” said Trump. “I helped me get elected. Russia had nothing to do with it at all.”
