Reports are coming in that fan-favorite actor Keanu Reeves has met with the producers of an iconic film franchise to potentially join the star-studded cast for a new movie.
Could Keanu Reeves make time in his schedule, with Cyberpunk 2077 coming out next year, The Matrix 4 in the line, and a new John Wick movie planned, to drive around with a bunch of action stars?
We can only dream.
Chris Morgan has written 6 of the Fast and the Furious movies so far, as well as the spinoff, Hobbs and Shaw. He’s a big name in the franchise and has really helped make the series what it is today – overwhelming huge and iconic.
He has confirmed that he wants nothing more than to have Keanu Reeves involved in an upcoming movie. And this isn’t just his dream – apparently, he’s taking steps to try and find a home for Reeves within the Fast and Furious universe.
“I sat down with him and we’re talking about it,” Morgan said in an interview. “I wanted him to be in the Fast universe for a very long time … my fervent desire is to bring him into this franchise for sure.”
This isn’t the first time that Keanu Reeves, now 55, has his name come up in talks about Fast and Furious movies.
There was a persistent rumor before Hobbs and Shaw, starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Jason Statham, that Reeves would be sliding in for a cameo of some sort, similar to his role in the Netflix rom-com Always Be My Maybe, but when it finally came to theaters, there was no Reeves.
According to everything Morgan has said so far, it isn’t a lack of interest in either party that has prevented Reeves from showing up – it’s a schedule, and time, situation.
Because seriously, Reeves’s career is bigger now than it ever has been. He’s been a Hollywood staple for twenty-odd years, and is enjoying his time in the spotlight now more than ever, it seems.
Besides being the internet’s boyfriend and favorite person (we’re still not quite clear on how that happened, either), he has The Matrix 4 lined up, a long-awaited sequel to the trilogy that made him a household name.
Cyberpunk 2077, a futuristic roleplaying game by CD Projekt Red, is set to come out in April of 2020 and stars Reeves as the main character’s questionable guiding light through the dystopian “Night City”. Preview images show Reeves with a full mechanical arm and some sweet sunglasses.
Plus, the John Wick series is really doing well for him – the first movie came out 5 years ago, and since then has seen 2 other movies starring Reeves, and has collectively grossed more than $581 billion worldwide. The 4th installment is in the works.
While he’s not on a cast list for the upcoming Fast and Furious, which stars Cardi B, Vin Diesel, Charlize Theron, and more, there is no saying what will happen in future movies.
We can only hope!
