US President Donald Trump, 73, has once again launched a Twitter tirade against global warming activist and child Greta Thunberg, 16, and has gotten some serious flak for it. Many have called into question the validity of his wife’s anti-bullying initiative, given her husband’s cyber-bullying behavior.

What Trump Said About Greta

Trump bizarrely tweeted that “Greta must work on her Anger Management problem, then go to a good old fashioned movie with a friend! Chill Greta, Chill!” This tweet confused many, as it was unclear what Trump was referring to. Thunberg is not known to have any anger issues, so Trump’s insistence to the contrary is baffling.

Greta, not one to be bullied by an adult and the president of the United States, changed her Twitter bio in a cheeky slap to Trump. It now reads “A teenager working on her anger management problem. Currently chilling and watching a good old fashioned movie with a friend.”

Why Was Trump So Angry?

Trump’s ire seemed to stem from Greta being named Time Magazine’s Person of the Year for 2019. The coveted spot is given to people who have made notable contributions to humanity as a whole during the year, a spot that Greta Thunberg clearly deserved for her bold and heartfelt activism.

Online Response to Trump

Responses to Trump’s strange outburst have been appropriately scathing. Trump, arguably the most powerful person in the free world and a whole 73 years old, is actively bullying a child activist who is concerned for the future of the planet. Many pointed out the hypocrisy of Melania’s anti-bullying campaign considering her husband’s harsh, bullying behavior.

Others noted the irony that just last week, a lawyer who said Barron Trump’s name during impeachment hearings was harangued for even bringing the boy up, since he’s a minor. Meanwhile, Trump seems to have no issue slamming a young girl he’s never met.

Michelle Obama came to the defense of Thunberg, writing on Twitter: “Don’t let anyone dim your light. Like the girls I’ve met in Vietnam and all over the world, you have so much to offer us all. Ignore the doubters and know that millions of people are cheering you on.”
